Introduction to learning techniques

I would like to introduce you to some of the training methods. These methods can be used interchangeably depending on the level of training. For example:

  1. Capturing a Behavior –Waiting for the response you want when the dog has learned
  2. Correcting a Behavior –Allowing the dog to make mistakes to help teach correct behavior
  3. Signaling a Behavior –Giving the dog a signal to learn a behavior
  4. Luring a Behavior –Luring the dog to perform a behavior
  5. Shaping a Behavior –Shaping a behavior one step at a time
  6. Ignoring a Behavior – or negative reinforcement
