VIDEO 1: DROP & LEAVE IT

How to teach your dog to drop objects and leave them alone. This dog training video lesson is designed to help families with dogs who will not drop objects and leave them alone. Maybe they are obsessive over objects like toys, bones or even “No” objects such as dish towels, shoes, socks and etc. Part 1 of the lesson is teaching you about how to use your voice command to help your dog associate with the drop exercise. Part 2 is learning how to use a “Lure” to redirect the dog. In Part 3 you will also learn how to use a training leash to teach the dog how to drop (The most popular method). In Part 4 you will learn when to time your voice signal to communicate a positive message to your dog the moment your dog responds. Part 5 is the last step, how to teach your dog not to go back to the object after they have dropped it unless directed to.

This Drop & Leave training exercise is not for dogs that are showing aggressive behavior towards objects such as resource guarding; however, this lesson is part 1 of a two part series teaching you the basics before working with aggressive and protective guarding behavior. VIDEO 2: HOW TO “CORRECT” JUMPING

This video lesson will teach you how to set your dog up to jump, instead of preventing your dog from jumping. But you will also learn how to control your dog from jumping when it is not an appropriate time to allow your dog to jump. There are two basic set up exercises your will learn how to practice, one, jumping on objects or people and the second, jumping directly on you. Both of these jumping exercises should be practices as often as possible. NOTE: If your dog is successfully jumping on furniture, people, pet gates, fences and counters, for attention or affection, it’s hard to tell them not to jump. VIDEO 3: HOW TO SEND YOUR DOG TO THEIR “PLACE”

How to teach your dog to go to their “Place” by My. Bob This is a dog training video lesson teaches you how to instruct your dog to go to their training place. Instead of using their training cage or putting them in a separate room, the goal of this lesson is to be able to send your dog to a particular place (rug or training mat) for as long as you realistically need them to stay when company arrives, when you’re sitting down to a meal or when they need a mental rest. This lesson is similar to my “Stay Command” video lesson, but focuses on teaching the dog how to stay on a particular training mat rather than a larger confined area, like a room or an outdoor area. Once you have taught your dog how to stay on their training place, you will be able to take them anywhere and control their behavior just by placing the training mat down and giving the command to stay. I recommend practice this exercises 3 times each day for 1 to 5 minutes. Also, if you have questions and feel the need to reach help for additional help? consider booking a “40 minute” Telephone Consultation. Dog owners have raved about how down to earth and practical the lessons are over the phone.

VIDEO 4: HOW TO TEACH YOUR DOG TO “DROP” THE TOY

This video training lesson is one way how to teach you, how to teach your dog how to drop objects. I use the “Bait & Switch” game with play toys and fun objects and the “Gentle Lift” for objects that are off limits. You will learn how simple it is to teach your dog how to drop objects just by using a leash, a collar and the correct words given at the right moment. The second video lesson I sell The “Drop & Leave it” Command, takes it one step further and teaches your dog not to go back to the object once they have dropped it. (See website for details) These video training lessons are for public purchase to help teach and guide dog owners train their dog’s in the convenience of their homes and not to be shared to others without written consent from Mr. Bob from Bobs Pet Stop Inc.

VIDEO 7: HOW TO CORRECT PUPPY BITING

This video lesson is designed to teach dog owners how to correct unwanted puppy biting and teething using a “Direct” approach. If you find your dog or puppy mouthing and biting you or your children when sitting on the floor playing , use this video lesson as often as needed when your pup is out for a positive training lesson. The direct approach can be one of many ways to teach your dog how to discern bad biting and good biting. This technique is a very effective way to communicate to the dog, “biting us is off limits”. Once the biting stops, then you can redirect your dog towards an object that is allowed to be chewed on, like a chew bone or chew toy.

VIDEO 8: HOW TO TEACH A DOG TO “SIT”

This video lesson is my favorite way to teach our dogs how to sit reliably. If you can teach your dog how to sit without breaking, then you can use the sit command to control your dog in other areas of life. Eventually you will be able to give your dog other commands and they will respond to them just as well. The key is your ability to follow through when giving your dog any commands and never repeating them. Once your dog can perform the sit command then you can use it when walking or “Heeling” your dog.

Objective: To teach your dog not to move from sitting position unless released or commanded.

What is the true understanding of the “Sit” command? It is a command word not a plea. Never ask your dog to sit and never repeat the command. A well-behaved dog that understands the command will sit happily, especially when there is positive feedback. When giving a command to sit, our goal is to teach them to wait until we have directed them to release or do the next thing. The Sit command should not be given unless you are willing to back up the exercise and follow through when they break.

Notes: Start each training lesson by giving the dog a chance to learn how to understand the word sit by showing the dog, what that picture looks like, this is called “Shaping”. As you watch the dog training video lesson you will see how each step is practiced. Once you have practiced 4 repetitions in a row, while adding more time between each rep, repeat the same group of 4 repetitions, but this time, give your dog a chance to respond to your command before guiding them through it. We want to learn how often is the dog listening, compared to how often we need to show. Once you have worked up to a minute or more, then practice the lesson with more distractions. I reward the each and every time they do the task whether I help them or they do it themselves in the learning phase.
